Message from the Chair

NWR Headshot webThank you for visiting the Health Law Section of the Florida Bar’s website.

You already know that we are in the midst of a historic transformation of our nation’s health care system.  Insurance companies, physicians, hospitals, clinics, patients and investors continue to operate in a world of great uncertainty – 10-years after the enactment of the Affordable Care Act.  The controversy surrounding the Affordable Care Act and now the unruly “repeal and replace” debate over competing proposals to “fix” problems such as coverage, access and quality of care only serve to prolong this uncertainty.  Compounding these challenge is proliferation of disruptive technology which is radically changing the way we all live.

The Health Law Section of the Florida Bar is here to assist you navigate this ever evolving landscape.  Our 1800 professional members can provide you with guidance from state insurance and hospital regulation and risk management to state licensure and Medicaid issues.  Moreover, we recognize the expertise of some of our members through the Board Certification process – one of the few such programs in the country.

On behalf of the entire Executive Council, I invite you to sample any of our resources.  From traditional CLE seminars and webcasts to Council meetings and our publications – I am sure the Health Law Section has a resource to help you solve any health-related issue you may have in Florida.

If you have any questions, or are interested in membership in the Section, please contact the Florida Bar’s most engaging Program Administrator, Willie Mae Shepherd at WShepherd@floridabar.org.

Again, thank you for your interest in the Health Law Section.  If I can be of individual assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me at 321.434.4356 or at Nicholas.Romanello@health-first.org.

Thanks.

Nicholas Romanello
